How to add Twitch Alerts to Streamlabs Desktop using Stream Elements?

Setting up your stream for the first time might be hard, but no worries! We are going to show how to add your Twitch alerts to your streams using Streamlabs Desktop.

1. Sign in to your StreamElements account.

2. Go to Dashboard – Streaming Tools – Overlays

3. Click New Overlay – Choose 1080p as resolution

4. Click “Plus” – Alerts – Alert Box

5. Select Position, size and style on the left and set the size to:

Horizontal: 1920

Vertical: 1080

Click “Center Widget” and return to Alert box settings.

6. Turn off unnecessary alerts by unselecting them.

7. Click the “Cog” next to the alert you want to edit.

8. Click “Change Video”, select “Upload” in the top right corner of the window, click “Select File” and select the video file. (WebM).

9. If your video file doesn’t have sound, click “Upload sound” to upload a sound file, otherwise select “Clear Sound”.

10. Set the layout to “Text over Image” (on the left).

11. You can edit your alert message. Use variables for info pulled from Twitch or YouTube:

{name} for the username of the follower etc. available variables are right below. You can click Emulate after your edits to see how it looks.

12. Click text settings. You can change font, size and text color here.

Click advanced. Set position via Margin panel.

Set the “Top” margin between 0 and 1080 (top to bottom) to change its vertical location.

The highlight part will allow you to change the highlight animation and color. (Follower name, Tip amount, etc.)

Click the arrow next to text settings to return to alert settings.

13. Click Animation Settings.

Under Text animation settings:

You can add enter and exit animation to the text.

Click the arrow next to animation settings to return to alert settings.

14. Variation settings allow you to have different alerts for different types of the same event.

For example, you can set up different alerts for New Subscribers, Gifted Subs, Community Gifts, Different alerts for different lengths of subscriptions or a different number of gifts etc.

On default; there are 3 variations for Subscription Alerts and 6 Variations for Cheer Alerts. You can add more if you prefer.

Edit the default variations to use them or turn them off, since they will override the main alert animation for those occasions.

15. After editing every alert and variation you will use, click save in the top right corner. Click the chain button next to it to copy the URL.

How to add Stream Elements overlay to your Streaming Software?

  • Click "+" sign under the "Sources" section and select "Browser Source".
  • Enter the name of the Browser Source (Optional) and click “OK”.
  • Paste the URL to the "URL" section.
  • Set "Width" to 1920 and "Height" to 1080.
  • Turn on "Control audio via OBS".
  • Click "OK".
  • Click "+" sign next to the "Sources" section, select "Browser Source" and click "Add Source".
  • Enter the name of the Browser Source (Optional) and click “Add Source”.
  • Paste the URL to the "URL" section.
  • Set "Width" to 1920 and "Height" to 1080.
  • Turn on "Control audio via Streamlabs Desktop".
  • Click "Close".
  • Select your scene and click "Edit" next to it.
  • Select "Browser Source" and click "Add".
  • Copy the link into the "Webpage" section.
  • Turn on "Custom Page Resolution" under the "Additional Options" and set "W" to "1920" and "H" to "1080".
  • Resize the browser source to your liking.
  • Click "Save".
